Eutelsat instructs the suspension of Med Nuçe TV’s broadcast

Eutelsat satellite operator has instructed the suspension of Europe based pro-Kurdish Med Nuçe TV’s broadcast.

Eutelsat satellite operator has instructed the suspension of Europe based pro-Kurdish Med Nuçe TV’s broadcast.

Med Nuçe TV Broadcasting Board released a written statement saying that “Eutelsat has ordered the suspension of Med Nuçe TV’s broadcast by acting in coordination with the AKP government that endeavours to silence the pro-Alevi, pro-Kurdish and children’s channels in Turkey.”

Remarking that the Turkish state’s suppression and pressure campaign against opponent press and Kurdish media has reached a new dimension, the statement said: “Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared a war on all press and media outlets that remain outside of its preferences, and it tries to export these fascist pressures to Europe as well.

While the broadcasts of 10 TV channels have been suspended within the scope of Turkish state’s activities to silence Kurdish press and opponent media under the dictatorship of Tayyip Erdoğan, the Europe based Eutelsat satellite operator has started to apply pressure on satellite companies for the closure of Kurdish TV channels. In a totally unlawful manner, Eutelsat has instructed the immediate closure of Med Nuçe TV which possesses a license and broadcasts within the scope of broadcasting principles. With this unlawful and illegal attempt, Eutelsat has become an accomplice to the Turkish state and Tayyip Erdoğan.”

YPJ: Women’s Defense Units (Women’s Protection Units)

We are an all-female armed force, formed to push forward women’s role in the protection of our people and revolution in Rojava, Northern Syria. We are an autonomous unit of the YPG, the People’s Defense Units, practicing self-organization through a communal lifestyle, based on our ideology of direct democracy, ecology and women’s empowerment and freedom.

Documentary on YPJ who rewrote the history of women

With the Rojava revolution, the Kurdish women organized themselves in the self defense area as well as social, diplomatic and economic spheres. Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) was developed in the Rojava revolution, became an effective force in all three cantons and answered the attacks from the outside as the authentic women’s organisation. Women organising in both war and life have rewritten women’s history in Rojava, the fortress of resistance.

Rojava Kurds, determined to found their own system against all pressures, started building the democratic autonomy in July 19, 2012. Rojava Kurds waged a war of honor for humanity, all the while continuing their building efforts with determination. In many cities in Rojava, women started institutions like security forces women’s branches, people’s assemblies, women’s foundations, women’s communes, women’s organisations, courts, people’s centers, cultural and arts centers, youth centers and such. Armenians, Arabs and Assyrians also took part in these institutions and they were built, step by step. The people organised in these institutions on the basis of democratic autonomy and held awareness raising efforts.

Against military attacks to Rojava cities following the declaration of the democratic system, Rojava Kurds self organized in the military area under the name People’s Defense Units (YPG).

YPG was formed for the defense of the people and Kurdish women took active part in the people’s defense. Because the Rojava revolution was developing under the leadership of women and the need for the authentic organisation of Kurdish women was seen in every area. And so on December 2, 2012, Women’s Defense Units(YPJ) was formed.

In line with the decisions out of YPJ’s first conference in Dêrik, YPJ units were formed in all cities of the 3 cantons of Rojava. All the units were named after women who lost their lives in the war.

Women’s defense forces military academy named Şehîd (Martyr) Şîlan Academy was opened in Cizîre for women to prepare themselves for self defense. 6 bureaus of Şehîd Şilan Academy were opened in Afrîn, Kobanê and Cizîre cantons. Since then, thousands of fighters were trained in these academies. In the early days of YPJ, they ran their military struggle against gang attacks with unprecedented resistance in the battlefield. Silav lost her life in a clash fighting against gang groups in Afrîn and became YPJ’s first martyr. In the early period of YPJ’s formation, 29 members lost their lives fighting gang groups.

With the intensified gang attacks, YPJ was stationed in all cities in Rojava. YPJ centers were set up in every city. There were 10 to 20 YPJ fighters in every center. In these centers, women organized and new fighters joined. Since YPJ centers opened, authentic YPJ units in all cities are on the rise. Centers for the coordination of all YPJ units were also opened in all three cantons. Fighters who newly joined the YPJ started to go through military and ideological training.

A fighter who hadn’t completed the training based on the democratic autonomy system and the idea of self defense couldn’t join the war effort. Armenian, Arab and Assyrian women attended these trainings and took their place in the ranks of YPJ. Many Kurdish women also joined the YPJ from Northern, Southern and Western Kurdistan after ISIS started attacking Kobanê.

YPJ and YPG have been in a great resistance in the face of the attacks ISIS started and still continues on Rojava Kurdistan. Many YPJ and YPG fighters lost their lives in the war that took part largely in the Kobanê Canton, and many are joining in support of the Kobanê resistance from four parts of Kurdistan. The number of people joining YPJ and YPG are on the rise. YPJ took part in the Kobanê resistance in great numbers and displayed the resisting women’s stance. YPJ displayed an indignant and unyielding attitude against the ISIS approach of raping and murdering women, selling them on markets, and in general physical, psychological, cultural and social violence against women. An epic resistance developed in the person of Arîn Mîrxan and Kurdish women showed the whole world once again their will to a free life. The struggle displayed by the YPJ first in Kobanê, then again in Serekanî, Cezaa, Til Hemis, Shengal and Rabîa showed the free will that YPJ wants for the development of women’s organisation, for the people, society and women themselves.

Islamic State executes 75 prisoners in northern Iraq

Radical group of the Islamic State (ISIS) has executed dozens of prisoners in a major detention centre in the Iraqi northwestern city of Mosul on Sunday.

“At least 75 prisoners were executed by ISIS in the Mosul Central Prison,” local media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News, citing an ISIS official.

Most of the victims were young Iraqi men who have been recently arrested by ISIS militants in Mosul and other parts of Nineveh province.

“The Islamic State’s leadership has charged them with treason,” the informed source reported.

The executed civilians included at least 25 media activists.

Speaking to ARA News, Iraqi security officer Zanoun Sabaawi said that the ISIS radical group has threatened all journalists and media activists of execution if they report on local developments in areas held by the group.

“Terrorists of Daesh (ISIS) want all their violations and atrocities against the Iraqi people to go unnoticed. That’s why they try to prevent reporters from covering local news in places like Mosul,” Sabaawi said.

Mosul is the main ISIS bastion in Iraq. The group has taken over the city and other Iraqi territories in June 2014. Since then thousands of people have been arrested, tortured and executed at the hands of ISIS militants. Also, hundreds of thousands have been displaced, mostly heading to the Iraqi Kurdistan.

Turkish Soldiers, Village Guards Torture PKK Fighter, Release Footage

http://de.share-your-photo.com/img/fad6fab4fd.jpg

A video showing Turkish soldiers and state-sponsored Kurdish village guards torturing and abusing Saime Avşin (Avaşin Gabar), a female Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) guerrilla, has surfaced on social media.

In the video, which has caused outrage among Kurdish and progressive Turkish circles, the injured People’s Defence Forces (HPG/PKK) militant is dragged over rocks from her hair and sworn at repeatedly.

The incident took place on 28 August in Hakkari’s Şemdinli district according to reports, but the video surfaced on Twitter yesterday after being shared by an account belonging to village guards.

The village guard recording the video is heard shouting, „I would sacrifice you for [Turkish] soldiers, you whore,“ as the woman lies motionless, flanked by soldiers.

Other voices are also heard shouting obscenities at the guerrilla as soldiers and village guards are told to search the area for other fighters.

Peoples‘ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Filiz Kerestecioğlu condemned the video saying, „Torturing an injured woman guerrilla is a crime against humanity. Even war has laws!“

The video ends as soldiers beginning stripping the guerrilla, who is thought to be in custody now.

Another female guerrilla, Kevser Eltürk (Ekin Wan), was tortured to death and stripped after being captured alive by Turkish soldiers in August 2015. Critics have said the Turkish army is using ‚dirty war‘ tactics as part of its pyschological warfare against the Kurdish population.

There are thought to be more than 70,000 village guards employed by the Turkish state in the Kurdish region, most of them Kurds.

The PKK recently declared they would target village guards and those in collusion with the state, following several years of a de-facto ceasefire.

We are not sharing the video due to the disturbing nature of its content.

NYC: Rojava Will Be the Graveyard of Turkey and ISIS

http://de.share-your-photo.com/img/958a51453e.jpg

While the world descends into a dark authoritarian nightmare, the guerrilla fighters in Rojava, in northern Syria, have forged a new path for revolutionaries everywhere. With a politic built on feminism, anti-capitalism, anti-state, and communal praxis, Kurdish revolutionaries assisted by anarchist and communist guerrillas are ushering in the most important revolution in the 21st century.

The primary fighting units in Rojava, the YPG and YPJ, have faced insurmountable odds, battling Daesh, Bashar Assad’s forces, and various other counter-revolutionary forces in Syria. Armed with conviction and fighting against some of the most fascist forces in the world their battlefield victories have resonated all over the globe. The YPG/YPJ’s successes are so profound that their political model is the only viable political option for Syria, and has created a viable alternative for revolutionary movements worldwide.

This is the exact reason Turkey’s fascist leader, Erdogan, has chosen to intervene in Syria. He recognizes that Rojava’s anti-state, anti-capitalist, and anti-patriarchal values are a direct threat to his chauvinistic throne. The Turkish state has undermined the revolution since its inception and has supported every reactionary force in the region to crush the revolutions gains: funding and granting political support to Daesh and Al Nusra and recently colluding with Assad’s forces against the movement.

Turkey condoned Daesh’s sex slavery, beheadings, and conquests; it harbored Daesh fighters, provided money and arms, explosives, purchased oil and helped Daesh organize combat operations.

Turkey has ridiculously attempted to claim that it is merely liberating towns from Daesh, while simultaneously naming its invasion Operation Euphrates Shield, since it is shielding the area west of the Euphrates from the Kurdish-led revolution.

Turkey’s goal is clear: destroy the capacity of the liberatory armed forces and put an end to the most promising revolutionary movement in the world. Every day that Turkish troops attack revolutionary operations aimed at liberating towns from Daesh are halted.

For those who have built a new life in liberated territory Turkey promises a return to the reactionary days of the past. But the revolution in Rojava has already faced great odds and excelled.

We, at NYC Anarchist Action, urge all people to increase resistance against Turkey and to support the struggle in Rojava as they carve out a way forward for the liberation of all humanity. We placed this banner in solidarity with the fighters of Rojava and in complicity with their struggle, over the FDR highway during the convening of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Rojava’s example will be expanded with action, not words!
Rojava will be the graveyard of Turkey and ISIS.

As they say, ‘Resistance is life, silence is death!’

Long live Rojava!
Long live free life!
